For generations, women have lived within a health care system that is mostly designed by men for men. Women’s bodies are seen as male bodies with more hormones and hence are regularly excluded from clinical trials because their hormonal fluctuations can throw off results. In the US, research trials weren’t required to include women until 1993.

“Women are not empowered to own their health.”

Women spend a greater proportion of their lives in ill health and disability when compared with men, and there are growing geographic differences in women’s life expectancy. There are also disparities between different groups of women in terms of access to services, experiences of healthcare, and health outcomes.

Our goal is to include women worldwide, by extending testing and education to women in underserved communities.

SOLUTION

Curie provides a platform for women to take care of themselves throughout their lifetimes whilst also building knowledge about female health conditions to help take care of women worldwide.  Curie Health intends to build more data on female health, as preventative care, so women won’t continue to be ignored by health professionals about their symptoms. Conditions such as endometriosis affect one in 10 women but on average, it takes 8 years to confirm a diagnosis.

GOALS

  • Increase knowledge to empower self-advocacy.
  •  Give women ownership of their health and data.
  •  Increase access to women’s testing globally.

THE PROPOSED SYSTEM

Once they have their results, they’ll be available in the app along with information to help them understand better what those results could mean for them.

They’ll then be able to choose from four things to do with their data:
  • They can keep it for themselves.
  • We recommend sending it to their GP so they can receive personalised advice and care updates.
  • Share it with the Curie community, where our medical team will review and publish the data to help women all over the world benefit from the collective knowledge.
  • Sell it to biotech and pharmaceutical researchers who want to improve the health of women in the area.
  • They can donate the proceeds of these sales to CurieGlobal, our charitable arm that provides women's healthcare testing to underserved communities.

Our platform is designed to be friendly and easy to use so that they can manage care from their phone. Curie Health provides clear instructions to accompany their test, allows them to self-report, see upcoming recommendations, request new tests, provides easy access to medical history and data self-management, and assists them in learning more from our research and CurieGlobal efforts to strengthen the women's community.

How does CurieHealth work?

  • Sell to NHS and private insurance to subscribe users.
  • Cut total costs with decreased In-person and critical care.
  • Anticipate long customer lifecycle by covering lifetime needs.

How does CurieGlobal work?

We aim to help and build a global community of Women through CURIE GLOBAL. Through this charitable arm, funded by the Donations from Research organisations, Curie Global aims to

  • Empower and help girls and women from underserved communities, across borders, get access to self-testing kits and be more aware.
  • Reaching out and generating access through a network of NGOs, community leaders and local connectors, working with them to build trust and to help them share information and awareness within their communities.
  • To track the progress made and ensure regular health checkups for the users, there will be regular follow- up with both the community and health authorities we aim to partner with.
  • Through our system, we aim to provide comprehensive data that is essential and can enable policy-makers and health care professionals to identify the specific needs of different ethnic groups, respond with tailored strategies for addressing inequalities, and track the impact of these strategies.
  • The donors can also learn about the stories of change and impact they make through this Global Outreach Programme.
