Mamta Sagar’s Kannada translation of The Forty Rules of Love a novel originally by Elif Shafak tells two parallel stories that mirror each other across two very different cultures and seven intervening centuries. This novel tells the story of a 13th-century Persian Sufi Dervish Shams of Tabriz, and his inspirational relationship with Rumi, the greatest poet. The flower illustrations add to the book's essence. Flowers are significant in Turkish tradition, and thus relate to Rumi. The botanical illustrations are created digitally in Adobe Photoshop.

The book along with the botanical illustrations were published in January 2018.
